Having a policy is not the same as governing it.

 Most small businesses have collected policies over time — some written internally, some downloaded from templates, some required by insurers or clients. The problem is rarely that the policies do not exist. The problem is that nobody knows which version is current, when it was last reviewed, who owns it or where it actually lives.

 This register gives every policy a home, an owner and a review date.

 The Policy Register tracks every policy your business has or needs. For each one you record the category, the owner, the version number, where the document is stored, its status, the date it was adopted, when it was last reviewed, the review frequency and the next review due date. The Review Alert column calculates automatically — flagging policies as Review Scheduled, Due Within 60 Days, Overdue or No Date Set.

 Pre-loaded with 12 common business policies including those most frequently absent or out of date in founder-led businesses: privacy notice, data retention policy, equal opportunities, disciplinary and grievance procedure, health and safety policy, expenses policy, acceptable use policy, terms and conditions, complaints handling policy, conflict of interest policy, confidentiality policy and social media policy.

 Crucially, some pre-loaded policies are shown as Not Yet Written or Needs Updating rather than all Live — because a register that only shows green is not a register, it is a comfort blanket.
